I am not usually one that has a difficult time putting in to words what I want to say but this time its different. I have sat here and typed and erased and typed and erased and so on.

So here it goes…

I have made a VERY difficult decision to close Washington House Salon permanently our last operating day will be August 31. This was not a decision that came easily or over night. This has been on my heart for a long time and it was finally time to take action on what I knew was right my for family and I.

Its important for me to explain that this closure isn’t happening because we are struggling. Quite the opposite. We are thriving and we always have. From the moment we opened we have thrived. We thrived through the pandemic and we are still thriving today. Its for personal reasons which is why this decision was so hard as I have always put the salon and my amazing team before my needs since opening the doors.

Owning the salon has been the most rewarding thing I have ever done. Its been the most beautiful thing for me to experience. Ups and downs and all arounds. The good and the very ugly, I wouldn’t change a thing. Owning this business has taught me some of my biggest life lessons and although hard they have shaped me in to who I am today and for that I am so grateful.

I have mentored some of the most amazing stylists some who still stand by me today (Natalie and Jaden I am forever grateful for your loyalty to Washington House Salon and grateful that you chose me as your mentor, you have both become family). I have had the most beautiful clients sit in my chair who have shared their lives with me and have since the beginning of my career almost 17 years ago. Even if you sat in my chair once you were and are a part of the story. I was lucky enough to educate for two of the largest brands in the hair industry. I have traveled all over Canada and the USA learning and teaching. I have truly been blessed over these last 11 years as a salon owner and almost 17 as a stylist.

Although I am stepping away from the chair and this business I want to assure you that you have chair to return to. The space is being leased to another salon/barber shop where Jaden and Andreia will continue to work. You will always receive the up most care from these two and they will do everything they can to accommodate as many of you as they possibly can.

I know I know what you’re thinking. WHAT ABOUT NATALIE!!! Natalie has also decided to step away from the chair. Natalie is ready to embark on a new adventure and we can’t wait to watch what that is going forward. We were both ready for something new!

Again, our last day of operation will be Saturday August 31. With that said back to school appointments are quickly filling up! So be sure to book yours in today!!!

Most of you already know this if you have had an appointment in the last month or two. Please keep an eye open here and on Instagram for contact info for the salon/barbershop that is taking the space. That is where you will find Jaden and Andreia.

Some of you I hadn’t had a chance to say goodbye to. Just know that I cherish each and every one of you. I cherish everything you ever shared with me. I have experienced so much with my clients over the years. From marriage to divorces, from cancer to growing your hair back, from losing loved ones, even finding long lost family members, from babies to miscarriages you name it I have lived it with you in my chair. And a lot of you experienced most of these things with me too.

There will never be enough words to explain how much you have all meant to me.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making the last 11 years as a salon owner so special and for supporting my small business. And thank you to all the clients who have literally been with me since I started my career almost 17 years ago. Its something I will never forget.
